The Ponys
I would like to say I’ve been saving this, but to be honest it totally slipped my mind. It’s big deal though! When we started doing the magnets, we said 80% would get each girl a pony. So, if they got 42 magnets in any one week we’d buy them a little pony. We rarely ever buy them toys outside of bdays and holidays, so we thought it was a nice treat if they would shape up a bit.
Ava snagged 43 magnets the first week, so she got her pony. Lily came in short, she’d having trouble with hitting and teasing. Neither of them can stop whining so essentially they’ve each got 49 chances to get 42 magnets. In the past 4 weeks, only one Whining magnet has been received and that was Ava a couple weeks back.
The next week, Lily still had trouble with hitting and teasing. And then again the next week… Finally, she pulled through with exactly 42! So 4 weeks in total, she has worked on her hitting and teasing and is finally doing better.
The Magnets
With the new addition, it seems like the girls have devolved in some sense. A lot of whining and a lot of fighting over toys. So Julie instituted a magnet chart about a month ago, and we give them their magnets every night based on that day’s behavior. I wouldn’t say it’s been a panacea, but it is another carrot/stick.![]()

Marketing Strategy
My first Saturday class! They opened this class up b/c the 3 nights were full. The class I originally signed up for had ~40 students, and while that’s not awful I’d much rather work in a smaller class where participation can be more robust.
Today was good, learned a variety of interesting things that I didn’t know yesterday.
Business Law
Classes started back up Monday night, and the first class is Business Law & Ethics. Reading the syllabus last week, I was actually scared of this class… The professor himself called it “the syllabus from hell” in class last night so my fear seems to have been justified.
But, I’m looking forward to the class all the same. Law is one area that, if I had 9 lives, I would pursue as a career. The class is shaping up to be a very participation-oriented class, with lots of discussions on ethics and business law so I believe it’s going to be a lot of fun. A lot of work too, but most things worth doing are.
Reds Game
Julie’s dad gave us tickets to a Red’s game like 3 months ago, and lucky for us it was rained out. We were looking for something to do yesterday, and decided we might as well go downtown and see the Reds. Boy, that was fun! It took us 45 minutes to find a parking spot, Cassie cried most of the time and the other two just complained about the heat. We did see a homerun though, and of course the ear muffs came on when the booms started!![]()

Taste of Colerain
We hit this local festival yesterday for dinner, fun was had by all! Both girls won make-up sets, in the “duck pond”.
